Materials 

– Ply Wood 

For Modular Kitchen Especially the Base Unit where there are possibilities for more water spilling and water leakages, it is advisable to go for  Boiling Water Proof Marine  ( BWP Marine 710 Grade Plywood ).   This is Both Moisture Resistant and Termite Proof .Whereas for Over Head Storages and Loft Coverings it is Fine to go with Water resistant Ply ( Moisture Resistant and Termite Proof ) Because BWP is costlier and that increases your Modular Kitchen Cost. 

-Thickness 

Plywood : 18 MM 

Backer : 6 MM 

Inner Lamination HW : 0.8mm

Out Lamination : 1 MM 

-Inner Lamination : 

0.8 mm ( Half white is advisable because it is good in any lightings , gives cleaner look than other colours, It is Bright and easy to replace or change as it is standard lamination and used by more than 95% of manufactures in Chennai ) 

-Outer Lamination / Finish : 

1mm Thick Matt Lamination is perfect for those who maintains regularly , as matt lamination gives a soft and pleasant look , more over it is less scratch proof ( Doesn’t mean it won’t get scratched but it won’t appear as it in Glossy or Acrylic Surfaces )  

1mm Thick High Glossy lamination is also a good choice , it looks colourful , bright and give you a energy mood.  However, the lightings in Kitchen must be subtle and placement of lights should be taken care off ( otherwise you may have a reflection or wavee effect ) 

1mm Thick Acrylic is another good choice , it gives a very class and wonderful look.  It looks like glass and it won’t give lighting effect as HGL laminations, There are two things to be taken care before choose Acrylic  ( 1) Expensive ( 2) Scratches

PU Finish is another choice, as it gives a very solid look and you can go for glossy or matt finish.  This solution is recommended to overcome the edge banding Peeling of issue and the edges shall be very smooth and looks perfect , but remember that,  it is expensive, tough to replace the same colour and the paint also peel off over the years.  

Gloss Moisture ( PU & Acrylic ) is one of the best choice as it gives the effect of HGL, Acrylic and PU Looks and overcome the other issue like peel off, wavee effect, scratch etc., Gloss Moisture Kitchens are very perfect looking and excellent in finishing 

In Chennai Veneer or Rubber Wood Kitchens are traditional and looks excellent, It is time consuming and required more manual works than of other kitchens,  otherwise for native people it is the best solution

The Kitchen Handles and Knobs 

There are various handles available for Kitchen Aluminium Profile Handles, Edge Profile Handle , Aluminium Handle, SS Handle, Zinc Handle , Shutter Handle, Recessed and recessed spring loaded , Designer Handle, Wooden Handle, Concealed handle , Kids Handle, Coloured Handles, and There are C Type, D type, Open and many more types and in Knobs there are   Aluminium Knobs, Zinc Knobs, SS knobs, Wooden Knobs, Round Knobs, Square Knobs, Designer Knobs, Kids Knobs etc.,

-Modular Kitchen Dimensions 

Ideal Kitchen Base Unit will be of 32 Inches Height , however it can be from 30 Inches to 35 inches based on the persons height .  The depth of the Kitchen Base Unit shall be 22 Inches  in order to accommodate common kitchen accessories are of 20″ depth. 

The Base Unit counter top thickness is  19mm and the depth shall be 24 Inches in order to accommodate standard Hob and Sink  

The Over head Cabinets heights are of 24 inches ( this will easy the access of shelves and easy to operate ) however the height varies a little based on the window height ( if near ) or the concrete loft given if any .  The depth of the Over head Cabinets Shall be 12 Inches , so that there will be any hindrance in while standing and accessing the cabinets.
